Background check, US Citizenship and drug screening are requirements for this position. This position is for 8-12 months. Ship may shift from Portsmouth VA to Norfolk VA during this time frame.

The Assistant Logistics Specialist will support the lead Logistics Management team during the repair, maintenance, and readiness phase of Dominion Energys Wind Turbine Installation Vessel (WTIV) Charybdis. This role provides hands?on assistance in inventory control, parts tracking, material handling, and vendor coordination to ensure the vessels systems, equipment, and components remain fully supported throughout the repair period.

Working alongside engineering, maintenance, and shipyard personnel, the Assistant Logistics Specialist will help maintain accurate inventory records, process requisitions, coordinate deliveries, and support daily vessel logistics operations. The ideal candidate is detail?oriented, dependable, and proactive, with a strong understanding of shipboard materials and a commitment to supporting vessel readiness in a fast?paced marine environment.

Key Responsibilities


Inventory & Material Support


  • Assist with maintaining accurate inventory of shipboard materials, spare parts, and consumables.
  • Conduct physical counts, verify part numbers, and update records in approved tracking systems.
  • Ensure materials are correctly labeled, stored, and organized by location, system, and usage priority.
  • Support shelf?life tracking, calibration documentation, and material control compliance.


Requisition & Receiving Assistance
  • Help prepare, process, and track material requisitions for repairs, maintenance, and outfitting activities.
  • Verify incoming materials against purchase orders, check for damage or shortages, and record receipts.
  • Coordinate delivery of materials, tools, and consumables to the vessel and work sites as needed.
  • Maintain receiving logs and assist in reconciling material discrepancies with suppliers or procurement staff.


Vendor & Shipyard Coordination
  • Interface with shipyard stores, vendors, and TMMG logistics staff to ensure timely material flow.
  • Support follow-up on pending deliveries and assist in resolving shipping or invoicing issues.
  • Communicate material readiness and delivery status to the Logistics Manager and engineering teams.


Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain organized digital and physical files for receipts, requisitions, and inventory adjustments.
  • Update material status spreadsheets, usage reports, and shortage lists for management review.
  • Support compliance with property accountability and configuration management procedures.


Operational & Repair Period Support
  • Assist with parts and tool delivery during critical repair activities, dockside evolutions, and testing events.
  • Help stage and transport equipment for onboard work in coordination with shipyard and vessel crews.
  • Support readiness preparations for sea trials and operational transitions.


Qualifications
  • 24 years of experience in shipyard, marine, industrial, or warehouse logistics.
  • Familiarity with shipboard materials, tools, and components used in electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and logistics tracking systems (CMMS, Maximo, NS5, or equivalent).
  • Ability to read and interpret part numbers, material lists, and basic engineering drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must possess or be eligible for a TWIC card and access to controlled maritime facilities.


Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience supporting offshore energy, ship repair, or heavy marine construction projects.
  • Background in U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, or commercial vessel supply and inventory control.
  • Forklift or material handling certification preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with ABS or USCG documentation practices is a plus.
