School Nurse (RN/LPN)

The School Nurse (RN/LPN) will treat students for medical issues, help prevent physical issues and disease, and coordinate routine health assessments.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Provide professional medical treatment to students.
• Conduct early detection of physical problems and health evaluations.
• Implement and support disease prevention efforts.
• Assist in promoting health education and immunization programs.
• Maintain clinical records.
• Coordinate vision, hearing, and orthopedic screening and health assessments.
• Provide emergency aid to students and school staff.
• Assist teachers in instructing students in health and nutrition education.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of community agencies to assist students and their families.
• Understanding of district policies and procedures.

Education and Experience:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification required.
• Current nursing license required.
• Driver's license preferred for student transport (highly desirable).

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Extended periods of standing, reaching, and bending.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Compensation:

• Pay range for this position is between $29.00 per hour and $33.00 per hour.
