This part-time position features seasonal hours that follow the natural rhythm of gardening - expect more hours during our busy spring season (April-June), with schedules gradually tapering off as summer progresses. Responsibilities and Duties

• Engage with customers to assess their needs, problem-solve, inspire, and provide personalized, solutions-based product recommendations.
• Assist customers with selecting plants, gardening tools, and other products while offering advice on plant care and maintenance.
• Help maintain inventory levels, stock shelves, and create visually appealing product displays.
• Perform various tasks in the Garden Center, including sales, merchandising, cashiering, plant care, carryout, and general housekeeping.
• Ensure products are well-organized and easy for customers to find.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers.
• Contribute to a positive team atmosphere, collaborating with others to achieve store goals and high customer satisfaction.
• Availability Friday-Sunday is required to support our busiest times.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of retail sales experience, preferably in a garden center or similar green industry setting.
• High level knowledge of plants, horticulture, and gardening principles.
• Ability to recognize and manage common plant pests and diseases.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism.
• Strong ability to engage customers, identify needs, and effectively upsell additional products or services.
• Capable of lifting 50 pounds regularly and pushing up to 200 pounds with casters.
• Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• A team player who is flexible and willing to take on a variety of tasks.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Work Schedule and Environment

• Variable schedule with 10-40 hours of work per week, peak hours in Spring.
• Hours of operation 9am-5pm, 7 days a week.
• Must be capable of working outside during all weather conditions.
• This position is located at our Seaside, OR garden center.
• There are two cats living on the garden center property, please be aware if you have allergies!
