Job Title: High School American Sign Language (ASL) Teacher
Reports To: High School Principal
Time Status: Part-Time
The primary duties of this position are to prepare lessons centered around a biblical worldview, create an engaging classroom environment, and maintain consistent lines of communication with administration, parents, and students. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in ASL and a desire to inspire students to develop communication skills through sign language with biblical integration.
Key Responsibilities: - Instruction : Teach American Sign Language to high school students, ensuring that lessons align with the curriculum and meet learning objectives.
- Lesson Planning : Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to various learning styles and provide students with a solid understanding of ASL grammar, vocabulary, and cultural aspects.
- Classroom Management : Maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and growth.
- Assessments : Evaluate student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Communication : Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and parents to support student development and address any concerns related to student performance or behavior.
- Student Engagement : Foster a safe and inclusive classroom that encourages students to actively engage with ASL and deaf culture, promoting an understanding of diversity and inclusion.
- Professional Development : Stay up to date on current ASL teaching methods, trends, and resources to continually improve instructional practices.
