Job Description

Applied Materials is seeking a Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Master Black Belt to lead enterprise-wide improvement initiatives across a globally matrixed and cross functional business. Key areas of focus may include driving improvements to maximize customer value with our innovation, product development and process development processes. Key Responsibilities include leading projects within and across global businesses to reduce waste and maximize customer value; helping develop and foster a culture of LSS throughout the organization by applying critical problem solving using LSS methodology; understanding data trends and driving quantified results by using analytical methods and systems; facilitating groups using process mapping, root cause analysis and statistical tools as applicable; employing project management skills related as required to support project success; capturing and recording Best Known Methods (BKM) for dissemination across business. Functional Knowledge required includes experience leading and supporting complex projects; experience in Six Sigma tools and methodologies including DMAIC, DFSS, Lean/CI; strong project management skills; exercising judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information; driving innovative thinking to develop solutions. Leadership skills include ability to lead and influence others within a matrix organization; supporting or leading projects with notable risk and complexity; managing project risk and resource requirements; effectively coaching and mentoring champions, process owners and Black Belts. Interpersonal Skills required include excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; adept at observing, assessing and helping team members recognize improvement areas; developing strong rapport with those they mentor and support; ability to influence others to drive results. Education required is a Bachelor's Degree (Business/Engineering) with a Master’s Degree preferred. Additional Qualifications include Master Black Belt certification required and 10-15 years of experience.
