Materials Manager | Grand Rapids, MI

Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize inventory levels for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
• Oversee procurement activities to ensure timely and cost-effective material acquisition.
• Develop and implement material forecasting and planning strategies.
• Coordinate with production and logistics to ensure seamless material flow and on-time delivery.
• Negotiate with suppliers to achieve favorable terms, quality, and delivery performance.
• Utilize and maintain MRP/ERP systems for accurate material planning and tracking.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the materials management team.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proven experience in supply chain management, logistics, and procurement within a manufacturing environment.
• Expertise in ERP/MRP systems for demand planning, inventory control, and production scheduling.
• Strong track record in inventory optimization, forecasting, and implementing cost-reduction strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate with suppliers, manage vendor relationships, and ensure material availability.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and process optimization.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification
• APICS CPIM or CSCP certification
• Proficiency with advanced data analytics or Business Intelligence (BI) tools
• Experience with international sourcing and logistics
