Medical Assist & Clinic Outreach Coord: Responsible for supporting clinical & community outreach programming. Performs delegated patient care under direction of Physician, Nurse Practitioner or RN. Works w/clinic team to perform admin duties, healthcare education, outreach activities & research. The coord will foster & maintain interna/external partnerships, provide coordination w/other programs/depts & regularly adapt their roles/tasks to maximize clinic efficiency & community awareness. Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field w/3 yrs of related experience or any combination of education & exp that would provide the necessary knowledge, skills & abilities req’d. Fluency in written & spoken Spanish & English req’d. BLS/CPR w/AED training req’d. FT w/medical, dental, vision, retirement, up to 208 hrs paid vacation & up to 104 paid sick leave per year, paid holidays & paid parental leave benefits. Salary $25.35 hrly. JOB SUMMARY: The Public Health Medical Assistant and Clinic Outreach Coordinator is responsible for supporting both clinical and community outreach programming. The incumbent will work as a paraprofessional performing delegated patient care functions under the clinical direction of a Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or Registered Nurse. The position will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary clinic team; perform administrative support duties; conduct preventative healthcare education and outreach activities; research various topics and information; and are expected to regularly adapt their roles/tasks to maximize clinic efficiency and flow. They will foster and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners and provide coordination with other programs and departments around outreach events and program(s) communication needs. They are responsible for ensuring deliverables and activities are completed within an appropriate time and at a sufficient quality. The coordinator helps to expand the efficiency, effectiveness, and community awareness and uptake of program areas.

Serves as a subject matter expert for assigned unit/program and represents the department, serves on committees, and presents on public health concerns, services, and programs at public meetings, community forums, and/or other related events. Patient Care Under supervision of licensed staff, this position provides routine direct patient health services in clinic or outreach setting including routine and international travel consultations, reproductive health including contraception and sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and treatment, tuberculosis treatment, cancer prevention and screening activities. Interviews patients to obtain medical history; documents/records in medical record. Performs lab tests, blood draws, and specimen collection and packaging for external lab processing. Administers medications, immunizations, injections, and other treatments according to prescription or clinician direction. Prepares patients for examination, collects vital signs, assists clinicians during clinic procedures. Respects patient preferences without personal bias. Maintains professionalism. Adheres to standards related to patient safety and compliance. Cleans and maintains exams rooms and lobby. Disposes of hazardous materials in accordance with regulations. Stocks and rotates medical and lab equipment and supplies as needed. Monitors inventory of supplies. Cleans and sterilizes instruments. Clinic Administration Supports check in and check out of patients within clinic setting. Completes patient follow up activities under direction of provider, including care navigation activities to support patients with competing prescribed care plan. Gathers and maintains patient records. Manges clinic flow, assign rooms to patients. Performs general office duties such as: covering front desk, answering phones, maintaining patient charts, ordering supplies, data entry, verification of client eligibility for programs, verifying insurance status, reconciliation of lab results and reports, review and medical billing and clinical records. Supports continuity of care efforts through direct support to patients to support compliance with follow up plans. Maintains confidentiality and patient privacy. Maintains accurate patient records using appropriate medical terminology. Maintains appropriate and complete medical records. Completes the required paperwork for reimbursement and program accountability. Assists in keeping data statistics in accordance with grant and governmental regulations. Community Outreach & Health Education Plan, implement, and organize outreach opportunities on behalf of health access programs. Delivers health education and promotion interventions. Engages priority populations, partners and community organizations for participation in the planning process. Develops outreach plans and health education materials in coordination with Communications Team. Develops effective messaging for target audiences. Selects method and technologies to deliver messages effectively using identified strategies. Works with partners and community members to evaluate educational materials to determine appropriateness for clients served. Maintains collection and evaluation of data using appropriate technology. Interprets data. Uses findings to improve programs. Coordinates relationships with partners and community organizations. Promotes and represents public health programs at community events and internal activities. Recruits healthcare partners and community organizations to promote programs to prospective patients. Serves as facilitator in coordinating meetings and distribution of information. Serves on workgroups or coalitions aligning with program priorities. Manages a community network system of existing service providers to offer essential services to residents. Performs other duties as assigned. Regular and predictable attendance is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities for this position would be: Education and Experience: Fluency in written and spoken Spanish and English languages required Bachelor’s degree in public health, psychology, sociology or nursing and three years of healthcare, public health, behavioral health, communications or related experience. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. Licenses and Certifications: Valid Driver's License required Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification with AED training required Medical Assistant Certification preferred Certification for Medical Interpretation preferred

WORK SCHEDULE Shifts may vary based on clinical coverage and outreach needs. A typical workweek is Monday through Friday 8am to 4:30pm though some staff may opt for an alternative work schedules to condense to a four-day work schedule or accommodate for outreach events. Potential for frequent evening and weekend hours required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of: Techniques and methods for organizing, prioritizing and monitoring work.
