You’ll serve as the lead on critical consulting engagements, responsible for overall project performance, client satisfaction, and internal team development. This role blends human-centered design, facilitation, strategy, and relationship-building to drive meaningful outcomes. You’ll be the connective tissue across phases and functions- balancing client needs, internal coordination, and strategic vision. You also play a key role in identifying new business opportunities (such as inside sales) and fostering client relationships. This is a role for a systems thinker and builder, someone who can see both the big picture and the behavioral levers that drive change in people, teams, and organizations. It’s a highly visible, high-impact position for a leader ready to stretch their consulting practice into new terrain. Please note: This role requires a genuine passion for DoD work—its mission, its significance, and the people it serves. We are hiring for this position, which will be based in the Boston Metro Area, to ensure accessibility to our clients, although you will work remotely. What You’ll Be Doing Consulting Experience & Strategic Insight - You bring 8+ years of experience in consulting, organizational transformation, or strategic design work. You’ve led complex, high-stakes projects across multiple stakeholders and know how to navigate ambiguity with clarity and purpose. You’re a systems thinker who can spot patterns, connect dots, and build strategies that drive real change. You are highly adaptable and are not comfortable with doing things the way the DOD has always done them. Executive Presence & Facilitation Skills - You’re comfortable in the room with senior executives, and just as comfortable leading a whiteboard session with junior staff. Your communication style is crisp and compelling, and your facilitation skills help groups find clarity, direction, and momentum. Insight Synthesis & Research Fluency - You can translate qualitative and quantitative data into sharp insights and action. Whether it's stakeholder interviews, surveys, or ethnographic field notes, you know how to uncover meaning and design solutions that matter. Design & Delivery Excellence - You take pride in delivering high-quality, highly visual work. You obsess over the details. From strategic decks and executive memos to complex project roadmaps, you can package ideas in a way that moves people. You’re familiar with tools like Google Slides, Miro, Canva, and Airtable, and use them to communicate clearly and creatively. Adaptive Leadership & Team Stewardship - You’ve led diverse teams and know how to guide, support, and challenge your colleagues. You’re comfortable mentoring across disciplines and enjoy helping others grow. You bring stability in chaos, model adaptability, and drive collective learning. Curiosity, Rigor, and a Bias for Action - You’re always learning, constantly improving. Your interests outside of work are varied and continually growing. You have a strong point of view, but you’re open to better ones. You pursue clarity, ask hard questions, and translate ideas into action. You’re energized by doing things differently- and doing them well. Really well. Exceptionally well. What You Get Excited About 8+ years of experience in consulting, transformation, design strategy, or culture work Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Organizational Psychology, Behavioral Science, Design Strategy, Business, Political Science, Anthropology, Sociology, or a related discipline. Master’s degree (e.g., MBA, MDes, MPP, MSOD, or similar) is a plus (but not a must), especially if paired with substantial practical experience in consulting or transformation work. You bring a passion for the mission and complexity of the Department of Defense. You’re not just comfortable in that world—you’re energized by it. Deep understanding of organizational systems, behavior, and change Proven success leading high-complexity, multi-stakeholder projects Exceptional communication and facilitation skills with executive presence Fluency in qualitative and quantitative research and insight synthesis Adept at translating ideas, models, and data into strategic action Familiarity with frameworks and methods from organizational behavior, design thinking, and transformation science Strong expertise with tools like Miro, Airtable, GSuite, Zoom, Slack, and modern collaboration platforms Experience designing and facilitating both in-person and remote sessions Strong visual storytelling and deck creation skills (Canva, Google Slides, PowerPoint, etc.) Experience leading diverse teams and mentoring junior staff Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action and innovation
