In this role, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and regression testing setups using Python-based frameworks such as OpenHTF and Pytest. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in scripting, hardware-software integration, and embedded systems testing methodologies.

Pay Range: $70-$95/hour ; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Responsibilities

• We are seeking a highly skilled Senior QA Engineer to join our embedded systems validation team. This team is responsible for delivering a robust software stack for the Design Verification of PCBAs and ECUs across current and next-generation vehicle platforms, including Autonomy, Infotainment, and Vehicle Controls.
• In this role, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and regression testing setups using Python-based frameworks such as OpenHTF and Pytest. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in scripting, hardware-software integration, and embedded systems testing methodologies.
• Key Responsibilities:Design and build scalable and robust HIL test architectures for embedded systems validation.
• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and infrastructure to support rapid development and testing cycles.
• Write and manage multi-tiered test suites aimed at identifying regressions in embedded platforms.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and QA teams to simulate embedded environments and resolve testing gaps.
• Improve test coverage and reliability by designing new test cases and refining existing ones.
• Contribute to end-to-end test case development by partnering with product managers and engineering stakeholders.
• Analyze test failures, logs, and performance reports to assist in root cause analysis and debugging.

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in software testing and automation, with a focus on embedded systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python, with hands-on experience in Pytest and OpenHTF.
• Proven experience setting up HIL-based regression test environments.
• Deep understanding of hardware interfaces such as UART, I2C, SPI, and CAN.
• Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with Git and CI tools like GitLab CI.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience testing and validating embedded systems in automotive, aerospace, or IoT applications.
• Familiarity with Docker, virtualized testing environments, and container-based deployment.
• Hands-on use of test and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies).
• Knowledge of NI VeriStand, Vector CANoe, and Wireshark.
