Structural Steel Fitter & Welder

We are seeking a skilled Structural Steel Fitter & Welder to join our fabrication team in White House, TN. This role is hands-on: fitting, welding, and assembling steel members to blueprint specifications while upholding TATE FAB’s standards of precision, efficiency, quality, and safety . You’ll work with both traditional fabrication techniques and advanced CNC technology — including PythonX Robotic Plasma and Peddinghaus systems — to deliver accurate, high-quality results.

Compensation: $23 – $28/hr base, with the opportunity to exceed $30+/hr with overtime.

• Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and layout drawings.

• Lay out, cut, grind, fit, and tack steel members into position.

• Perform welding primarily using FCAW/Flux Core.

• Skill to execute welds in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead) with shop welds most performed in flat position.

• Use measuring tools, squares, and levels to assure accuracy of fit-up.

• Perform welds to AWS standards for quality and compliance.

• Work alongside advanced CNC equipment (PythonX Robotic Plasma, Peddinghaus, AngleMaster) to maximize precision and efficiency.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

• High school diploma or GED (technical training preferred).

• AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Certification (or ability to certify).

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in structural steel fabrication and welding.

• Ability to weld in multiple positions with consistent quality.

• Proficient in blueprint reading, layout, and measuring.

• Valid U.S. driver’s license with a positive driving record.

• Ability to meet minimum credit standards (generally a score of 600+), with no unresolved collections or bankruptcies impacting eligibility.

• Pre-employment and ongoing drug screening required; TATE FAB is a drug-free workplace.

• OSHA-10 Construction Safety Certification , or willingness to complete prior to hire.

• Strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and teamwork .
