PRIMARY ROLE: (including positions supervised and degree of supervision) : Responsible for development, implementation, and evaluation of behavior management programming; psychological assessment, program design, psychological intervention, and participation in the development of individualized program plans; for providing training and professional supervision to Human Service Treatment Specialists (HSTS) and psychology interns; and for consultation service to other staff as requested. Administrative supervision is provided by the Unit manager, and professional supervision is provided by a licensed psychologist on staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES; (Principal functions of the position are listed. Other duties supportive of the principal duties and mission of Hands of Heartland [HOH] may be assigned as needed.

1. Selects, designs, implements, and evaluates performance of interventions to modify inappropriate client behavior, including presentation of Protective Intervention Plans (PIPs) to review processes regarding technical, human rights, and informed consent issues.
2. Knowledge of Oklahoma’s developmental disability service delivery system(s),crisis intervention techniques (for use with aggressive clients), policies and procedures of the Residential Treatment Program at the Laura Dester Children’s Center and Hands of Heartland, Applied Behavior Analysis, social learning theory, and relevant efficacious cognitive approaches and techniques of value in habilitating individuals, Title XIX Standards for ICF/IID, psychopharmacology applicable to dual diagnosed (ID/MI) consumers, case and organizational consultation practices, principles of habilitation regarding consumers with developmentally disabilities; and Code of Ethics of American Psychological Association (and adherence with those expectations).
3. Conducts psychological and behavioral assessments of consumers/clients as assigned.
4. Functions as a member of the onsite management team through communication, collaboration, research, strategic analysis of quality indicators, special projects, and committee participation within the area of expertise. May function on occasion as Officer of the Day. Works independently and prioritizes tasks, makes effective decisions, inputs information into a computer, responds to consumer/staff needs in a timely fashion.
5. Participates as an Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) member and consults with other IDT members, and provides classroom and on-the-job training regarding issues of assessment, habilitation training design, and implementation to professional and paraprofessional personnel. Teaches effective use of Applied Behavior Analysis. Responds effectively to a changing environment specifically designed to support Interdisciplinary Teams in their pursuit of consumer habilitation and community reintegration goals. Seeks resources to meet special needs and provide pertinent information. Applies skills in special project situations.
6. Develops and maintains effective working relationship with coworkers, guardians/ family members of consumers, and community agency caregivers.
7. Provides pre-placement training to potential providers of LDCC clients, and post-placement telephonic consultation & community site consultation to providers of former LDCC clients.
8. Performs other duties as assigned by his immediate supervisor of the Executive Director.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: (Some entry level knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through, but are not limited to, the following coursework/training and/or experience.) :

1. Doctorate in psychology from an accredited institution of higher learning. At least two (2) years of progressively responsible supervised work experience in the field of psychology is required. Must be licensed as a psychologist in the State of Oklahoma, or Board Certified Behavior Analysis as certified by the State of Oklahoma

2. Formal training in intellectual and adaptive behavior assessment, and either formal training or extensive successful experience in Applied Behavior Analysis is required. In addition, formal training and/or experience in planning, program evaluation, interpersonal relationships, problem solving, crisis intervention, and causes and habilitation/treatment of individuals with mental illness/behavioral impairment/severe emotional disturbance is expected. Ability to work with computerized word processing and spreadsheet packages is a plus.
