Iowa City Community School District Athletic Coach Qualifications: Iowa Coaching Certification Coaching experience Experience working with junior high and/or high school youth Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable Reports To: Dean/Building Facilitator Job Goals: To provide skills that will engage all levels of athletes and promote physical activity in order to enhance student learning, promote the overall efficiency of the school system, and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child. Performance Responsibilities: Thorough knowledge of all athletic policies approved by the Iowa City Board of Education. Form positive professional relationships with players, coaches, parents, and fans. Possess an enthusiastic attitude and understanding of intermediate and high school students in an athletic setting. Assist in monitoring academic records of student/athletes while following district/state eligibility rules. Provide supervision before, during, and after all practices and competitions. Develop athletes to their fullest potential, starting with basic fundamentals and progressing to advanced skills. Work cooperatively with other programs. Willing to work in the summer, on weekends, and at other times to maintain a championship program. Perform additional duties as requested by administration. Support the health and wellbeing of student athletes. Maintain active CPR certification. Perform other duties as assigned. Terms of Employment: Contract days determined by the season of the sport. Salary and calendar year to be established by the Board of Education. Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated according to the District’s policy on Evaluation, State Statute, and applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
