About St. Theresa Catholic School

St. Theresa Catholic School (STCS) is a ministry of St. Theresa Parish in Sugar Land, providing an outstanding Catholic classical education rooted in the wisdom of the Church and the Western intellectual tradition. Guided by the motto Fides et Ratio —faith and reason—STCS is dedicated to forming saints and scholars through a richly Catholic, authentically classical, and joyfully counter-cultural education. Students are immersed in Sacred Scripture, Liturgy, Theology, and the study of the Great Books, supported by robust instruction in Sacred Music, Latin, and the Arts. The school’s approach integrates academic excellence with intentional character and faith formation, cultivating virtue, empathy, and a deep love for God and His Church. At every grade level, STCS seeks to form students who are prudent, compassionate, courageous, and generous—young men and women prepared to serve others and pursue holiness in every aspect of life.

Position Overview

STCS seeks a mission-driven and visionary Principal to serve as chief steward of the school’s Catholic and classical identity. The Principal will provide spiritual, academic, and operational leadership, fostering a culture of joyful formation, disciplined study, and communal charity rooted in the parish’s sacramental life. At a time of transition, the Principal will be tasked with building trust, strengthening faculty culture, improving communication, and advancing the mission of Catholic classical education in partnership with the pastor, advisory council, and school community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as chief educational and spiritual leader, ensuring all aspects of school life reflect the mission to form saints and scholars.
  • Clearly communicate a compelling vision for Catholic classical education—one that integrates virtue, wonder, disciplined habits, and joy in learning.
  • Foster a faculty culture of mutual respect, intellectual seriousness, and ongoing professional growth; lead meaningful professional development and mentorship.
  • Build and maintain trust with parents, faculty, and advisory council through transparent, substantive, and proactive communication.
  • Cultivate rhythm, joy, and leisure in the school day by balancing academics, physical movement, and wonder, especially in the younger grades.
  • Conduct regular audits of academic, cultural, operational, and advancement practices; lead strategic planning for growth and improvement.
  • Oversee school operations, including budgeting, advancement, enrollment, and facilities planning; collaborate with the pastor, business manager, and advisory council.
  • Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to increase philanthropic support.
  • Model joyful, apostolic leadership—being visibly present in daily school life, cultivating relationships, and representing STCS with grace to prospective families, donors, and diocesan stakeholders.
  • Uphold the distinct nature of STCS as a parish school, strengthening collaboration with the parish community and pastor.

Core Competencies & Character

  • Committed to forming students for sainthood––not simply worldly success.
  • Visionary and intellectually articulate leader, fluent in the language and logic of classical education and Catholic anthropology.
  • High emotional intelligence; skilled at building relationships, navigating cultural dynamics, and responding to parent and faculty concerns with wisdom and charity.
  • Strong organizational and operational skills: experience with fundraising, budgeting, advancement, and school management.
  • Effective communicator: clear, substantive, and pastoral in all forms of communication.
  • Joyful, approachable, and humble; able to unite a diverse school community and lead change with grace and conviction.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (education, theology, philosophy, or related discipline) preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of educational leadership experience, ideally in a Catholic, classical, or mission-driven school.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop faculty; experience with professional development and academic leadership structures.
  • Experience in advancement, fundraising, or donor relations is strongly preferred.
