About the Role

Refactor Games is a AAA sports video game studio. We are developing the next generation of professional football (soccer) video games using Unreal Engine 5.

We are seeking a Senior UI Artist to join our team and help shape the visual identity of our game’s user interface. In this role, you will create polished, intuitive, and visually cohesive UI art assets while working closely with UI/UX designers, engineers, and game designers. You’ll be responsible for translating wireframes and design concepts into beautiful, functional interface elements that support gameplay clarity and enhance the overall player experience.

You’ll Work On:

• Create high-quality UI artwork including menus, HUD elements, frames, buttons, and other interface components.
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers to visually interpret wireframes and interaction flows.
• Develop and maintain a cohesive visual language that aligns with the game’s style and tone.
• Prepare and optimize UI assets for in-engine implementation (Unreal).
• Work with engineers to ensure UI assets integrate smoothly into gameplay and meet technical constraints.
• Create motion graphics, simple animations, or VFX for UI elements when needed.
• Participate in critiques and reviews, providing constructive feedback and iterating based on direction.
• Contribute to documentation, style guides, and pipeline improvements.

Requirements:

• 2–5 years of professional experience as a UI Artist in games or related digital media.
• Strong portfolio showcasing polished UI artwork, iconography, typography, and layout design.
• Proficiency in design, animation and illustration tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Figma etc.).
• Solid understanding of UI design fundamentals including hierarchy, composition, color theory, and readability.
• Experience preparing UI assets for real-time engines (Unity, Unreal, etc.).
• Ability to take direction, iterate quickly, and collaborate effectively across disciplines.

Bonus Points:

• Experience shipping at least two games or large-scale digital products.
• A passion for soccer or soccer video games 
• Knowledge of UX methodologies and ability to give feedback on usability.
• Experience with version control (Perforce, Git).
• Experience working with localization pipelines and preparing UI for multiple languages.
• Experience developing comprehensive UI style guides and visual identity documents.
