Mavis Tire – Cyber Security Engineer

Put your career into high gear with Mavis Tire! We're looking for a full time Cyber Security Engineer to join our IT Team at our Operation Support Center in White Plains, NY. With nearly 2,300 retail locations, Mavis is one of the largest, independently-owned tire sales and automotive repair chains in the United States.

Position Overview

Mavis is seeking a passionate and proactive Cyber Security Engineer to play a pivotal role in managing our cybersecurity posture. As a key member of our technology team, you will take a hands-on approach to designing and implementing robust security solutions, and continually updating security hardening standards and best practices. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our systems and data.

Key Responsibilities

• Security Architecture and Implementation: Design, implement, and maintain security controls and solutions, including but not limited to firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), endpoint security, data loss prevention (DLP), and security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
• Security Hardening: Develop and implement security hardening standards and best practices for operating systems, applications, and network devices.
• Vulnerability Management: Conduct regular security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability scanning to identify weaknesses in our infrastructure, applications, and processes.
• Incident Response: Participate in incident response activities, including investigation, containment, eradication, and recovery efforts. Contribute to the development and maintenance of incident response plans and playbooks.
• Threat Intelligence: Stay up-to-date on the latest security threats, trends, and vulnerabilities, and proactively recommend and implement preventative measures.
• Automation and Optimization: Identify opportunities to automate security tasks and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of security operations.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive security documentation, including system configurations, security procedures, and incident reports.

Qualifications & Skills

To be eligible for the Cyber Security Engineer position, you must:

• Possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Have 4+ years of experience in a Security Engineering role or related cybersecurity experience.
• Have a strong understanding of networking protocols, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Have hands-on experience with security tools and technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, vulnerability scanners, and endpoint security solutions.
• Have prior experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and security tasks.
• Possess knowledge of common attack vectors and mitigation techniques.
• Have familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards.
• Have excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Possess the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Relevant security certifications such as CEH, PentTest+, GPEN or equivalent, experience with threat modeling and risk assessment methodologies, and/or experience with cloud security best practices and tools are preferred.
